It’s the end of the month and that can only mean one thing…it’s time for our next Meet The Team feature

This month we introduce our Product Manager, Freddie. Our newest member of the team is a Triathlon King! At the weekend Fred can be found face down in a pool, hanging off a bicycle or pretending to run 🏃♂️ 🏊♂️ 🚴
.
If there was a film made about Freddie, the one person he would wish to play his role would be Bradley Cooper…his look alike!
Our product Manger’s current inspiration comes (controversially) in the form of Steve Smith, the Australian Cricket Captain. Fred is cricket fanatic and admires his dedication and curiosity to try new things. Freddie’s role requires the ability to streamline processes in order to help our customers receive the product they truly wish for! He’s named this process ‘Steve Smithification’
.
All this sport can make a man hungry…If Fred was to share a meal with 4 people alive or dead he would choose Albert Einstein (because why not…), Louis Theroux (He would ask the others all the questions he wished he’d asked), General Hannibal (2000 years ago he led an army of elephants over the alps, Fred is sure he’s got some stories!) & Saladin sultan of Egypt (Fred studied the crusades at A-level and was fascinated by the many stories of Saladin)
.
If Fred was a Superhero his Superpower would be turning water into wine! 🍷

It’s Sarah’s 6th year at origin! Sarah loves the excitement that origin brings & the fact that no two days are the same! One day Packaging design for a Chocolate Company, the next day working on Social Media Animation.

Our self-proclaimed Video Game nerd is an old console user! We’re talking SNES, Gameboy & PlayStation. Apart from her love of Games & Design Sarah loves long muddy walks with her dogs, the bolshy French Bulldog Darcy & the one-eyed Westie called Ted.

If Sarah was trapped on a desert island her 3 items would be…A Hammock (for some R&R) A Paddleboard (for some adventure) & her dogs because they love the beach.

If Sarah had a Warning Label it would say… “Not effective in cold temperatures, can be volatile if aggravated, in case of aggravation add one cup of tea or biscuit to mitigate side effects”

Book designers have been experimenting for centuries with different leathers, decorated cloth and embossing. These are the books you place on your bookshelf facing outwards, to admire day after day! At originzone we feel very privileged to be able to continue this tradition by helping our customers embellish their book designs with laminating and foiling. We are the modern day bookbinders!

We will be running a monthly Meet The Team instalment on our social channels so you can learn a little bit more about the people who make origin tick.

We want you to meet the people who help you tell your story…well this is theirs!

Our first feature is on Mitch, our production manager. Mitch started at origin way back in 2010 and has been hands on ever since! Mitch’s passions are music, art & design, his vinyl collection & some out there shirts! If you have ever popped in to collect an order you would have seen some of these. Some say dodgy curtain fabric, Mitch says 70’s swagger
.
Mitch plays a number of instruments but his first love is the Bass and has played in various bands, you may have seen him at a local haunt or heard him on the radio! He has just become a father for the first time so the ragged mane is ‘bedhead chic’ not a mess as some would think. Carefully styled. Always. Mitch loves going to see gigs and is very much looking forward to doing so when the covid storm has passed.

The story began on February 14th AD 269 when Saint Valentine was jailed & executed. Legend has it Saint Valentine restored sight to the blind daughter of his jailer & wrote her a letter signed “Your Valentine” as a farewell before his execution.

As the years went by the holiday garnered a sweeter side. Valentine’s day was romanticised by the works of Shakespeare & by the middle ages handmade paper cards became the token of choice!
